The Gorgonzorial is a raucous annual reunion of friends initiated by Colorado College alumnus Arlen Ginsburg while living in Oakland. The word itself is a portmanteau of gorgonzola and memorial and is sometimes referred to as Gorg. The inaugural took place on Memorial Day weekend in 2005, one year after the launch and nine months after the completion of the world's greatest expedition, Paddle for the Presidency, which preserved/reinvented/saved democracy in the United States. It has grown into a great gathering of spouses, siblings, and friends.

Gorgonzorials have taken place all over the U.S. -- including New Jersey (days after Hurricane Irene, no less), Georgia, Louisiana and New York -- but we will never lose our affinity for the American West. The general rule is: whoever is willing to gorgonize gets to choose the place.

JLo is the only person to have attended every Gorgonzorial. He came late to Zion 1 (2009), but he came in hot and quickly got naked.

"Safe" is a beguiling and complex word. Short answer: Yes!
As you'll notice from Gorgonzorial History, many children have attended, with #11 (2015 - Yosemite) having the largest representation (7) and the first two children ever who could form memories.
This community embraces children and the most successful events have included special/separate accommodations for families. On one hand, you don't want to be the parent who protects their children from the realities and joys of humanity and this is also a way to bring your sacred charges into the fold of your sacred friendships; and on the other it's time to call in a favor from the grandparents because you don't want to spend a long weekend balancing parenting duties with party/adventure because, well, you need a weekend of responsibility-free party and adventure.
The uncles and aunties are always ready to play on the rug or grass, but the best thing to do is talk to other parents who've tried it to figure out if bringing the babies is the right move for you.
